Hey guys, first time poster (I think) in the comm.

I'm really excited that Clamp is doing this kind of manga again. I'm usually not a fan of their more cutesy stuff and gravitate towards their more X-like urban fantasy (action, adventure, magic etc). I like the concept of Gate 7 so far, but I'd be lying if I said I understood what was going on lol. Is there ANYWHERE I can go to to find an in depth summary of the whole manga so far - plot, characters, and the conflicts etc. I tried tvtropes but no luck. Also I don't believe there's anything on wiki.

Also, what do you all think of gate_seven so far? I almost feel like there's so much exposition and new characters being thrown at us that the plot feels a little lost right now...a lot of set up. I was hoping for a stronger start, but I can't wait to see where it's heading.

We should definitely have a discussion post every month too!

I don't recall seeing anything beyond the character files in this very comm, tbh. But I found that reading the scanlations (rather than the raws next to the translation, that is) helped a lot! Following the links to information on the historical references can clear out a lot of confusion, too. A- and I kinda think it's meant to be confusing, even to those who understand the references.

I kinda like the way it's setting up. It's the total opposite of, say, TRC, where you were given the plot right away, and then it took forever to introduce other characters/the main charas' pasts/etc. But it sort of works? I already feel completely in love with pretty much the entire cast, where with TRC it took me longer. And it makes me really really curious as to where the plot's going to go, and what's going to happen.

I've been working on some character bio stuff with a friend - we're hoping to get it up sometime in the next few weeks (when the mod here comes back~), so hopefully that will help you. We're trying to put together info on the historical figures they're based on as well, so I'm sure that will be helpful at some point.

I really like the in media res presentation of this. I think it's meant to be a bit overwhelming - you're supposed to be like Chikahito, tossed into the middle of all of this and will slowly figure out the connections between everyone and history that has lead to this point as he does (or maybe I'm just making crap up, like I am prone to doing when I need things to fall into neat categories, I dunno XD). I like each chapter more and more as we get more information, so I too am very excited to see where this is all going :D

I'm down for a discussion post, and can probably dredge up a couple more fans for it as well~

I don't mind the crazy way it's throwing you in the deep end, but then again I just finished watching (and loving) Sengoku Basara so the historical figures are familiar to me because of that (I giggled for quite some time over Yukimura being a timid school teacher for quite some time).
I love seeing the new chapters come out (and beg translations of sections) and can't wait till I get to visit some of the sites in a couple of months ;)

I'm normally the sort to do the in-depth analyses and all that, so as soon as I get caught up (life got in the way and I fell behind in everything for quite a while) you can probably expect some discussion posts from me when each chapter comes out! :D
